Helleborus × sternii 'Boughton Beauty'
Other - These plants are available in a 12cm pot.
Height x Spread: 45cm x 45cm
Well named for its very attractive evergreen foliage, leathery silver-grey serrated leaves with pale green veining and flushed red undersides, the flowers that emerge in midwinter are equally striking. Held in small clusters above the architectural leaves, its simple elegant cup-like flowers are palest green with dusky pink reverse.
A valuable source of nectar for early season species of bees, 'Boughton Beauty' is a good choice for a wildlife garden but its year-round structure is very useful. Thriving in a moist but free draining soil that is neutral to alkaline in part shade, the fact that one of this hybrid's parents is Helleborus argutifolius means that it can tolerate a sunnier position as well.
Irritant to the skin, harmful if eaten.
