Commonly known as 'Golden Hakonechloa', this perennial is a tufted clump-forming grass. Grown for its striking foliage the narrow cascading blades are yellow with green stripes with a red tinge during autumn. Brown airy flowers are often seen as insignificant.
'Golden Hakonechloa' can be divided during spring. Cut faded foliage down to the ground in late winter. It prefers a cool, slightly damp soil in dappled shade, but can tolerate more sun.
