For fans of ACHILLEA 'Moonshine' and its acid-yellow flowers which add a real punch to an early to mid summer border, fizzing and popping against blues, purples and other jewel-like hues, here is a recently introduced compact 'mini-me' version.
Smaller than the original, it forms a calf-high clump of jostling soft grey-grey stems with finely divided foliage, each proudly carrying a horizontal plate packed with tiny intense yellow flowers, signalling its primary botanical use as a landing pad for attracting bees and other pollinators.
A great candidate for a wildlife meadow, its ability to thrive in a free-draining soil in full sun makes it perfect for edging a path in a gravel garden or adding zing to a container on a hot sunny terrace. Even better, cutting back its first flush of flowers should encourage a second flush in late summer.
