Striking and ever so pretty, 'Emanuelle' is a recently introduced hybrid cross of genera Nerine and Amaryllis with clusters of large Nerine-like flowers, each broad re-curved petal being pale pink with a distinct deep pink central brush stroke. These appear on naked stems from September through to November, followed by strappy foliage that remains over winter before fading at the start of summer when the plant becomes dormant i.e. stops growing temporarily.
Preferring a very free-draining soil in full sun, they look stunning planted in drifts through a gravel garden, adding structure and delicious soft colour at a time when other plants are fading. If your soil is heavier or damper, they perform equally well in pots on a sunny terrace. 'Emanuelle' also cuts well for floral arrangements.
