With its large, single blue flowers each set off by a contrasting pale lime centre and fresh green foliage, 'Olympia' is a very elegant addition to the 'Boulevard Series' from Ray Evison. Despite its compact size, its ability to flower from the leaf axils along its stems, rather than just at their tops, means it more than punches its weight in the garden, with blooms even emerging close to its base.
Flowering from late spring into autumn it is a very strong candidate for a small garden or planter on a terrace where every plant must earn its place, but it will work just as well scrambling up the bare legs of a rose in a mixed border. For the best results grow it in a moist, free-draining soil in partial shade, but it can cope with more sun too. Prune all stems to 25cm above the ground in late spring.
