As its name suggests, this Digitalis ferruguinea cultivar produces tall spears of large golden brown tube-like flowers with lacey rusty red internal veining and narrow green foliage from basal rosettes.

A long-flowering plant, it continues to add interest well into autumn with its seed heads.  Perfect for highlights in a woodland garden or punctuating a shady border, it can also tolerate some sun as it hails from the southern Mediterranean.  Said to be deer and rabbit resistant. 'Gigantea' grows best in part-shade within a humus-rich soil but is fairly tolerant of most soils excepting very wet or very dry.

All parts are poisonous.
