Height x Spread: 90cm x 50cm
A stunning new perennial Digitalis with impressively large and chunky flower spikes packed with gently flaring copper pink flushed tubular flowers with contrasting soft orange throat over attractively glossy dark green foliage.
Bred for improved hardiness down to -5 Celsius, this bold and architectural perennial Digitalis adds real drama to both a mixed border and statement planter. Reliably repeat flowering throughout the summer, it is a veritable bee magnet too, bulking up quickly into large clumps of flowering stems that cut well for arrangements. It performs best in a fertile soil enriched with organic matter in part shade, but can tolerate most other situations or soils except very wet or free draining.
Digitalis x valinii 'Firebird' was awarded 2nd place in the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year competition
