Height x Spread: 20cm x 90cm
From late spring into early summer large single purple flowers with a white eye appear like twinkling stars above a low spreading mat of trailing stems cloaked with glossy green leaves.
Lesser periwinkle as it is commonly known deserves to be more popular. Evergreen, tough and hardy, it will happily spread to cover the ground, thriving in most soils in those difficult spots in the garden where nothing seems to survive. Adaptable to most light conditions, it flowers best in sun but also loves the shade and once established can even cope with drier shade. Perfect too for a hanging basket on a shady side of a house or winter container complementing bright stemmed Cornus.
