With its large semi-double flowers of palest pink almost white gently ruffled petals, each with a reddish purple mark at their base enfolding a frilly purple centre, this must be one of the prettiest oriental poppies available.
From June to July, it puts on a show-stopping display of elegant flowers held high on strong stems above deeply cut fuzzy green foliage. Once the flowers fade, the foliage can become untidy but a quick cut back will encourage regrowth of the leaves around August, filling gaps and acting as an attractive background for other flowers. A strong candidate for a white or cottage garden, it mixes well with purples, vivid deep pinks and lavender-blues, performing best in a poor to fairly fertile, free-draining soil in full sun.
