One of the boldest foliage plants for the garden, in spring 'Bronze Peacock' emerges from the ground, its shoots and leaves unfurling a striking deep bronze red. Heavily textured and veined, the gnarly leaves arranged like the fingers of a hand slowly turn green as the summer progresses, before developing autumnal tints. The surprise though is the spike of fluffy reddish pink flowers held on a dark red stem that erupts above the foliage in midsummer.
Preferring a deep, rich and moisture retentive soil that does not dry out, this is a fabulous plant for a bog garden or the outer edges of a damp woodland in either sun or part shade, away from drying winds. Create a contrast of textures and colours by combining it with fine leaved ASTILBE, bold toned LIGULARIA and delicate PRIMULA.
