'Gulliver' lives up to its gigantic billing not for the overall size of this shrub, but the sheer volume of its flowers. From midsummer through to autumn, it explodes with arching conical flowerheads that can reach 30cm in length, each densely packed with fragrant tiny lilac pink flowers with brightly contrasting orange centre, over mid green foliage.
Architectural and bold, it will definitely draw the eye either as a specimen plant or creating structure at the back of the border. Like other Buddleja it is equally at home in a coastal setting, cottage or wildlife garden, attracting bees and butterflies in droves. Easy to look after, it thrives in full sun in a well-drained soil. Cut stems back hard in spring when it is starting to grow to a bud approximately 50cm above the ground.
