'Wim's Red' is a spectacular plant providing great interest in the garden from spring through to late summer and beyond.  Its large cone shaped flowerheads open white in spring before maturing to pink in summer then turning a deep wine red in late summer, neatly set off by reddish stems.  Once faded the flowerheads remain over the winter and look wonderful touched by frost.

It performs best in part shade or sun in moist, well-drained soil and benefits from having some mulch applied around it but not touching its stems in spring, to make sure it does not dry out during the summer, particularly if it is in the sun.  Loved by the bees and butterflies this honey scented shrub is a great focal point in a border or as a statement on its own with flowerheads that won’t ‘flop’ in wet weather.   They also cut well for floral arrangements.
