Ever so pretty with lots of delicate lace cap flower heads that open slowly from early summer through to autumn over lush mid green foliage, 'Veerle' is just perfect for the smaller garden and can even be grown in a large planter.
Like Hydrangea macrophylla the flower colour depends upon the pH of your soil, blue in acidic to neutral soil, pink in alkaline. Long flowering, its foliage turns fiery shades of orange and red in autumn, extending the season of interest in the garden further. Florists love it as the flowers cut and dry well, but you can also leave the faded blooms intact for attractive winter structure. This deciduous shrub thrives in a fairly fertile, moist but free draining soil in part shade but can cope with more sun too.
This plant is toxic if ingested.
