Low-growing mounds of tactile, grey-green heart-shaped foliage on woolly white stems, producing small pink flowers in the leaf joints in mid-summer.
This dwarf evergreen sub-shrub only needs a trim to 2.5cm above the previous year’s growth in spring, after frosts have finished, to keep its tidy shape. A superb foliage plant, it thrives in poor, well-drained soil and is easily grown in a container. Best in full sun; it dislikes cold, wet winters.
H3 — hardy in mild areas of the UK (-5°C to -10°C). May need protection in colder regions.
Synonym: Ballota pseudodictamnus.
