Take a behind the scenes tour of our nursery on 15 July 2026. From 10.30am - 11.30am
Usually only offered to Gardening Clubs and Horticultural Societies, this year we are offering individual gardeners the opportunity to visit and take a behind the scenes tour.
The tour includes a visit to our propagation house, where your guide will tell you more about how we propagate our peat free herbaceous perennials, A walk through of our polytunnels and a look inside the potting shed. Your guide is happy to answer any questions you may have about how we grow.
This is a rare opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the nursery where Rosy Hardy continues to grow RHS Gold medal winning plants for her own floral displays and for other garden designers projects. It's also where we grow all of the stock we sell to the general public and to trade customers.
As herbaceous perennials are seasonal, the plant material that you'll see will vary throughout the year. We anticipate a lot of colour and different cultivars and varieties at this time of year.
Tea, coffee and biscuits included in the price.
Before booking, please consider the following:
- The tour is a standing/ walking tour of 45 minutes to an hour.
- Seating is available but is limited.
- The tour includes a step between tunnels.
- Our paths are gravel and uneven, so it is essential to wear sturdy footwear.
- Manual wheelchair users may find this tour a challenge, whereas motorised wheelchairs should be ok, but they will take an alternative route to avoid the step.
- Please dress for the weather, layers of clothing and hats are always useful. The propagation and other tunnels can be hot.
- Please bring a water bottle if it is a hot day.
- Our potting shed is the summer home to returning swallows who will be flying around.
- We will try and accommodate dietary needs e.g. gluten and dairy free but need to know 10 days in advance of the tour.
- We cannot guarantee an allergen free environment. If you have a food allergy please let us know and bring your own snack.
- We have 3 toilets on site, 1 of which is adapted and fully accessible
The tour is subject to a minimum of 6 people booking. Should these numbers not be realised we will cancel the tour and refund the cost of tickets.
Please note we are not a Garden Centre and do not have a tearoom or lunch facilities on-site but can recommend some great spots for lunch or coffee which are local to us. Please ask us for more information by emailing: info@hardysplants.co.uk
If you anticipate coming as part of a larger group and using a coach operator to travel, please get in touch before booking.
