Hosta are commonly known as Plantain Lily. The variety 'Frances Williams' has a clump-forming habit. Large heart-shaped leaves are blue/green with a yellow margin and prominent veins. Nodding lilac flowers appear during summer.
Ground cover, container planting, under-planting of trees and shrubs are just a few situations 'Frances Williams' can be used in. Hosta will flourish in deep humus-rich moisture-retentive soil and in shady or partially shady conditions, equally they can cope with a sunny site as long as the soil stays reliably damp throughout the summer months.
