Delivery charges 

We accept online orders from Mainland UK including the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Anglesey. Please note your delivery cost will vary depending upon your delivery address which is determined by our courier costs. 

Post and packing charges for England, Wales, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Anglesey : For an unlimited number of plants add £9.50 

Post and packing charges for Lowland Scotland 1: For an unlimited number of plants add £11.00  

Post and packing charges for The Scottish Highlands 1:  For an unlimited number of plants add £22.50

1. Please note: Although we have classified these regions as Highland or Lowland, due to the way our courier works some areas may appear in the Highland delivery band although they are geographically in the Lowlands. Please contact us via email or phone to discuss delivery rates if you feel you should be in the lower price bracket. Postcode areas which are affected by these discrepancies are as follows ( AB1 - AB16 , AB21 - AB25 , AB30, AB39 ) ( PA1 - PA19, PH1 - PH3) 

Seed orders: These are sent via Royal Mail and delivery is charged at a flat rate of £1.95 for all of the areas listed above and for an unlimited number of seed packets.

Special Instructions for Your Delivery

If you are going to be out when your delivery is due, please use the "Special Instructions" box to tell us where your parcel can be left in a safe place. 

To help ensure your parcel reaches you as easily as possible, please could you also fill in the "Special instructions" box with any further information you feel our courier may need - e.g Our house is down a small lane on the left hand side of "The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn" and is not visible or signposted from the road.

Plant availability and packing information.

Please be aware that your plants will arrive cut back. This does not harm your plant, in fact it aids better establishment of the plants whilst helping increase root and shoot growth once your plant is in the ground - this is horticultural good practice. To help you we include basic planting instructions with your order - read more about how to plant your pot grown perennials

At times throughout the growing year some varieties of plants will only be available from the Nursery. This is either due to the plant being too large or too delicate to send via Mail Order courier or due to low stock numbers. To avoid disappointment we would advise emailing or ringing the Nursery to reserve your plants before travelling a long distance to the Nursery. Contact us and we will do our best to help you. Alternatively we can deliver plants via Flower Shows at no additional cost please see our Shows & Events page for venues and dates - read more about plant availability



Click and Collect from the Nursery Shop. (Hampshire,UK)

If you live in our area and would like to collect your plants rather than have them delivered you can convert your order to 'Click and Collect'. We hasten to add it will still take us a minimum of 48hrs to gather your order and contact you. We ask you not to visit the nursery just on the off chance that your order will be ready.  You will find that some plants listed on the website are only available via 'Click and Collect'. As stated above this enables us to include plants that we only ever have in very small quantities; or plants which are either just too delicate or too large to send via mail order courier, and allows customers who intend to visit the nursery to reserve them in advance. This also currently applies to MELCOURT SYLVAGROW® Compost.

Once our team have gathered your 'Click and Collect' order you will receive an email asking you to confirm when you will be collecting your order - we can not hold orders for a period of  more than 10 working days . 

*PLEASE NOTE* - Our office is unmanned at weekends and on bank holidays so any 'Click and Collect' orders placed after 4pm on Fridays will not be processed until Monday.

Terms and Conditions

You can purchase Hardy's gift vouchers for use at our Hampshire based Nursery Shop, *Mail Order OR they can be used to purchase tickets for one of Rosy Hardy's Talks, Propagation Workshops or a Talk by one of our popular Guest Speakers. You can also redeem the vouchers at one of the Plant Fairs or Shows that we attend. 

*Mail Order - please note that our website does not accept vouchers or voucher codes - BUT we are very happy to take orders via email!

If you wish us to send these gift vouchers directly to your chosen recipient and would like us to include a special message, please tell us by filling in the 'special instructions' box when you complete your order. We will include a greetings card with each purchase free of charge.  Note: no expiry limitation

Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants - Gift Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash. If the value of the your purchase is less than the value of the token, change will be given in the form of Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants - Gift Vouchers.

Where small amounts of cash are involved, £4.99 or less it is at the discretion of Hardy’s staff whether they give the change in the form of a credit note.

Acceptance of your order

We would advise that your order has not been accepted until you have received a confirmation email from Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants. We reserve the right to cancel any order for any reason. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be decided by the courts of England and Wales.
The above policies do not affect your statutory rights.

Goods advertised on this site are subject to change in price without notice, however in the interests of good customer service, such changes are unlikely.

We do not undertake to pay postage if goods are returned to us without our prior knowledge. This does not affect your statutory rights. 


How to book a Talk or Workshop

Order online. Select your talk online, add the required number of tickets to your basket, and proceed to the checkout.  Please note that all information will be emailed to you once you have completed your booking. There are no tickets issued for our talks/events, please state your name on arrival.

By completing a booking you are indicating that you will attend the event organised by Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants, places are booked on a first come first served basis. Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants reserve the right to prevent anyone from attending our talk if they have not pre-booked.

Cancellation Policy

Friends and family are welcome to attend the talk or workshop in your place provided we have been notified at least one working day before the event begins. You will need to provide us with their name  

Otherwise, we regret we are unable to offer refunds on talks and workshops, but can offer transfers to an alternative talk/workshop date, provided we have been given enough notice (subject to availability):

  • More than 2 weeks before the talk/workshop starts – We will transfer you to another course or event of the same value 
  • 1 weeks' notice before the talk/workshop starts – We will refund you 50% of costs
  • Less than 2 days before the talk/workshop starts – We regret we cannot offer a refund 


If we cancel a Talk or Workshop:

Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants are entitled to cancel any talk/workshop or event at any time. In these cases you will be contacted and given the option to transfer to another talk/workshop of the same value or receive a full refund of your payment.
