We work hard to ensure our plants are fit and healthy when offered for sale. Our plants are in the main grown outdoors which makes them tough. We will refund where the plants supplied are:

    • When the plant was bought
    • Whether it was bought at a plant fair, show, talk or in our shop

Please allow 5 working days for us to get back to you.

    • If you purchased by mail order provide your order number
    • Include photographs of the plant including leaf and flower and the stick in label.

Plant availability and packing information.

Plant production at the nursery

Hardy's is a working nursery which means the bulk of the plants we offer for sale are grown on site. Many are produced from cutting material or seed which we take from our own stock plants, on occasion we source seed from trusted suppliers. In some years our stock plants may not produce enough seed for the following season or germination rates may be low - these factors are beyond our control. The weather plays its part in either speeding up or slowing down plant growth and can impact on how quickly we can produce saleable stock. We endeavour to maintain good stock levels of the most popular lines of plants throughout the growing season (spring, summer and autumn).

We repot a large proportion of our stock over the winter months; these plants then have to root down in their pots prior to being offered for sale, as we progress through spring you will find our saleable stock levels increase dramatically.

Availability of plants via Mail Order and the Nursery Shop

At times throughout the growing year some varieties of plants will only be available from the Nursery (*Currently unavailable online). This is either due to the plant being too large or too delicate to send via Mail Order courier or due to low stock numbers. To avoid disappointment we would advise emailing or ringing the Nursery to reserve your plants before travelling a long distance to the Nursery. Contact us and we will do our best to help you. Alternatively we can deliver plants via Flower Shows at no additional cost please see our Shows & Events page for venues and dates . For information about the availability of tender plants please follow this link.

Available – stock is available to buy online for mail order delivery, for click and collect or through our nursery shop.

Out of stock -  more to come. Stock is temporarily unavailable. We walk round and assess our stock as fit for sale on a regular basis, and when stock is fit for sale we’ll add it to our shop.  If stock is showing as sold out, check back in a couple of days when more stock may have been added.

Click and collect only – this stock is only available for collection from our Hampshire nursery shop. This may be because the plant is too fragile or too large to post. If you order click and collect, your plant choices are guaranteed when you pay online.

Currently unavailable online – means you may be able to buy this plant at our Hampshire shop, but not have it delivered by mail order.  If you are planning a specific trip to the nursery to look for a specific plant, email or give us a call in advance to avoid disappointment. We can’t guarantee the plants you require will be here unless you contact us in advance.

Currently unavailable - we don’t have any stock available for selling, however we plan to have stock either before the end of the current growing season or during the next growing year. Stock is not currently available in the shop, for click and collect or for mail order.

When receiving plants by mail order: Please be aware that your plants will arrive cut back. This does not harm your plant, in fact it aids better establishment of the plants whilst helping increase root and shoot growth once your plant is in the ground - this is horticultural good practice. To help you we include basic planting instructions with your order - read more about how to plant your pot grown perennials

Click and collect from the nursery shop. (Hampshire,UK)

Terms and Conditions

If you live in our area and would like to collect your plants rather than have them delivered you can convert your order to 'Click and Collect'. We hasten to add it will still take us a minimum of 48hrs to gather your order and contact you. We ask you not to visit the nursery just on the off chance that your order will be ready.  You will find that some plants listed on the website are only available via 'Click and Collect'. As stated above this enables us to include plants which are either just too delicate or too large to send via mail order courier and allows customers who intend to visit the nursery to buy them in advance. This also currently applies to other items such as MELCOURT SYLVAGROW® Compost.

Once our team have gathered your 'Click and Collect' order you will receive an email asking you to confirm when you will be collecting your order - we can not hold orders for a period of  more than 10 working days .

*PLEASE NOTE*  While our nursery shop may be open, our office is not staffed weekends and on bank holidays. Any 'Click and Collect' orders placed after 4pm on Fridays will not be processed until Monday.
