Gardening For Nature Club - Testbourne Community School - Update

Gardening for Nature Club February Update
The Gardening for Nature Club is doing well and has been very busy.  Susie Brown writes:

'We have taken part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and made bird feeders, completed two Bug Hotels using a reclaimed palette and windfalls with the help of the Design & Technology department tutor who formerly worked in boat building.  The group really enjoyed the time using the tools and workshop.

We have been drawing the big eight Bumblebees and talked about solitary and cuckoo species. We have also started to take a closer look at the plants growing on the field beside the school in the form of a quadrat survey.

There are plans to visit the Wild Orchids along the Mill Trail and the Wildflower Meadow plus there is also in development a Chalk Streams badge that can be achieved via Guides and Scouts - a great idea!  This is being developed not by ourselves but will hopefully be available to us via the Watercress and Winterbournes project run by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust Chalk Streams Team.'
