Description

Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea 'Windspiel' AGM

Height x Spread: 150cm x 75cm

An elegant, upright, deciduous grass with slender flower stems from mid-summer and a honeyed colour from then until winter. Will grow in any moist but well-drained soil and pH but prefers neutral to acidic conditions.  It is best grown in full sun but will tolerate part shade. Be sure to plant it in an area sheltered from the harshest winds, to protect the narrow stems from damage and therefore prolong the display.

This, easy to grow, grass should be cut down in spring to allow the new shoots to come through. Mature clumps can be lifted and split from February to March. Ideal for cottage, informal, city, courtyard and urban planting schemes as well as beds and borders. It is not known to be susceptible to pests or diseases and is, in general, a very well-behaved addition to most gardens.
