Originally spotted as a sport or naturally occurring genetic mutation of O. lindheimeri'Rosyjane', 'Freefolk Rosy' has proved to be one of our most popular introductions in recent years. The combination of gorgeous pink and white picotee flowers and a fresh variegated foliage is very striking, especially as the foliage colour begins to mature as it starts to flower. Initially green with a cream edge and a central reddish purple bruise, the purple gently fades as the season progresses.
Like all our stable of Oenothera introductions, it is long flowering from midsummer into late September, happily bridging the 'August slump' that some gardens can experience. It adds wow and froth to any sunny container combined with an ornamental grass and a 'spiller' like Erigeron or purple Heuchera. It will do the same for your borders too, thriving in a free draining soil away from 'winter wet'. PBR applied for.
