Large, pale lilac-pink scabious flowers like ruffled pincushions, sway on the ends of slender stems above clumps of finely cut soft green foliage. Bred and introduced by Hardy's, it is named after their son's nanny Jocelyn, also from South Africa.

It looks beautiful planted in drifts through a gravel garden, or as a spot plant in a rockery, but being half-hardy, make sure it is in a well-drained, sheltered spot, away from winter wet. Otherwise, grow it as we do in a container and bring it in for the winter, once the first autumn frosts start. A very good cut flower for informal arrangements, deadheading faded flowers will prolong flowering. It performs best in full sun, in a well-drained soil.
