Guaranteed to brighten up the coldest, greyest winter day, who doesn't like a snowdrop? Individually demure and charming, en masse they are a wonder to behold. After last winter's pandemic lockdown this year we can finally hit the snowdrop trail, revisiting old haunts and discovering new sites. To inspire you here is a list of our favourite places. National Garden Scheme Gardens

Little Court, Crawley

This private garden owned by a keen galanthophile has appeared in many publications including this month's Gardens Illustrated and is lovely to visit throughout the year. The snowdrops that emerge in January are followed by rippling carpets of crocus in the orchard and charming white Narcissus.

Bramdean House, Bramdean

A large 5 acre garden known for its displays of snowdrops and spring bulbs followed by stunning herbaceous perennial borders later in the season.

Welford Park

Once the home of the 'Great British Bake Off' TV series (2014 - 2019), Welford Park is a 'go-to' destination for snowdrops. The woodland, carpeted with snowdrops, will have you reaching for your camera phone and it is so easy to lose a few hours there. The hellebores are delightful too.

Chawton House

This 15 acre garden had delights all year round but hosts Snowdrop Sundays throughout February including one for the NGS.
