Looking Good Now

Here is a little insight to the plants that are strutting their stuff now and looking amazing despite the incredibly hot weather. Click on each of the names to get a better look at the plants available.

 Lythrum

Buzzing with pollinators these are festooned with flowers from pale lilac to the brightest pink and love a sunny spot and moisture when they need it.

Rudbeckia

From compact to towering these floriferous lovelies never shy away from the sun and are available in a variety of yellows, some with burnt orange tones.

Actaea

Dramatic and architectural, ranging from 90cms to over 2m these darlings of part-shaded areas have the added value of highly scented spires of flowers until the first frost.

Helenium

All the colours of fire are represented in these upright stalwarts of the sunny late summer- autumn garden. The open flowers are great for pollinators and look wonderful in cut flower arrangements too.

Helianthus

From the palest lemon to bright acid yellow these are elegant sun-loving plants with tall, straight stems and a long flowering season

Echinacea

These upright lovelies range from 30cms to approx. 90cms on stiff straight stems and are a magnet for butterflies and bees. The scented centres can be left in place to provide seeds for our winter birds.

Dahlia

The perfect richly coloured flowers of these show stopping plants come in almost every colour except blue and can be single or double in a huge range of heights and forms. All need full sun and well-drained soil. Add a little South American glamour to your garden and cut flower arrangements

Alstroemeria-psittacina

There are a lot of smaller, less hardy hybrids of this wonderfully strange plant, but few have the style and pizzaz of this one. The extraordinary hexagonal seed heads are an added bonus. Best in sun to part shade and great for flower arranging.

Bistorta

Seeing these spreading plants in great swathes around the lake at RHS Wisley was a sight I won't forget in a hurry. From palest pink to deep wine red, the summer show of these spreading, weed suppressing plants is sure to delight. A tough sun lover for any good soil. Very tolerant of heat.
