Introducing IVY, the two year old Border Collie Springer Spaniel cross or SPROLLIE, who keeps a close eye on her human Alex from our Sales Team. Being a cross she has an interesting combination of breed traits which definitely battle it out at times. The collie in her is gentle and shepherding, sauntering past chickens, ducks and horses without a care in the world. But see a sheep and ALL she wants to do is STARE.... That's it just STARE...
See a pheasant though and all bets are off as the Springer Spaniel brain takes over and the CHASE IS ON. Alex says the brain switch can happen several times during a walk, so it's never boring!
Both sides of her personality though are brilliant at communication. If she wants something she asks very politely by placing her head on your knee or chair or sofa until you notice and ask her what's up. If only all other dogs were like this? EDGAR are you listening?
Favourite walk Ivy? 'Easy peasy - the three mile round trip across the Cowleys or fields just south of the River Test in Freefolk and back. I could do it everyday and never be bored. Just ask at the Nursery Shop if you would like directions'
Special hobby? 'Jumping in the river, but mum makes me ask nicely before letting me go in. Sometimes I sit there for ages on the bank, giving her the eye and a polite little bark until finally she says yes and then WHEEEE!! I suppose it gives the ducks and swans time to get out of the way'
Top trick? 'Well you know how it is, humans can be so busy, busy, busy. So I amuse myself by throwing my ball down the stairs, running to catch it at the bottom, then jumping to the top to throw it again. I can make this last for simply AGES...'
Work in progress? 'I am learning to bring my mum the telephone when she needs it. Do you think I will get my own mobile one day?'
Best toy? 'The Blue Ball, I would do anything for the Blue Ball. Please can I have the Blue Ball? PLEEEEASE?'
Worst habit? 'Apparently I am easily distract....WOW A SHEEP!!....It's eyeballing me...Don't blink, definitely don't blink...Sorry did you say something? I am easily distracted....WOW A PHEASANT!! See you later'
