Description

Actea simplex (Atropurpurea Group) 'Brunette'

Height x Spread: 120cm x 80cm

Cream flower spikes with a sweet perfume held on slender purple stems in autumn. Many customers buy it for the attractive foliage, only to be surprised by the gorgeous flowers that appear later in the season.

A wonderful scented addition to any woodland or herbaceous planting scheme. No staking is required. A moisture retentive good soil is beneficial to success with this plant. Best grown in dappled shade to help maintain its deep, dark colour but tolerant of a slightly sunnier position than the green leaved forms, morning or late afternoon sun will be fine but avoid very hot areas of the garden.
