White flowering ASTRANTIA have a certain elegance and charm of their own and 'Snow Star' is one of the best. From early to mid summer it produces large white - sometimes blushed palest pink - pincushion flowers each set off with a ruff of green tipped bracts that stand tall of its lush green foliage.
Perfect for adding white highlights to the front or middle of a border, its foliage is often used to screen the bare legs of roses or the fading foliage of spring bulbs - an example of horticultural smoke and mirrors. Easy to grow and great value for any garden, you can encourage a second flush of flowers in late summer or early autumn by cutting back the first flush to just above ground level when they have faded. It will flower in part shade or sun but needs a good moist but free draining soil to thrive.
