Commonly known as the Painted Lady Fern, this rhizomatous perennial has stunning lance-shaped bipinnate fronds, which appear a dusty grey white colour tinged with purple.
Native to North East Asia, it needs a shady but sheltered situation, preferring a soil with an acid to neutral pH. Show it off by mixing it with contrasting ferns, especially Painted Lady Ferns (Athyrium) in borders and beds.
