Description

Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora 'Emily McKenzie'

Height x Spread: 60cm x 45cm

'Emily McKenzie' has upright arching stems which bear clusters of purple flower buds, these burst open to reveal gorgeous large rich orange flowers with attractive deep red markings at the base of each petal, during the autumn. This Montbretia has a clump-forming habit, its green sword-shape foliage works well with the stunning flowers.

It is best to divide the corms of this plant during the spring. Ensure when planting Crocosmia that you choose a reasonably good, moisture-retentive yet free-draining soil in sun or partial-shade. This plant is tolerant of salt spray so is great for coastal areas. It flourishes along banks as well as in flower beds & borders, 'Emily McKenzie' is an excellent cut flower too.
