Dahlia merckii

Dahlia merckii produces masses of small single lavender-pink flowers with gold rimmed centres, that dance on wiry red stems above green divided foliage. Hailing from Mexico, it is a bee magnet and will flower from mid summer until the hard autumn frosts.

Undeniably pretty, especially when combined in a border with larger flowerhead plants such as roses, this Dahlia is actually hardier than most. Just keep deadheading it and do not let it dry out completely. It will perform best in light, moist but well-drained soil in full or part sun.
