This sweetly scented form of snowdrop bears nodding flowerheads of double white inner petals, delicately tipped with green, beneath a skirt of larger outer white petals, over grey-green narrow foliage.

A little more flamboyant than the common snowdrop, it makes more of an impact, especially when naturalised in grass or planted in drifts through woodland. Ideal for edging a lightly shaded path or underplanting shrubs, grow it where you will best appreciate its delicate good looks and fragrance from late winter into spring. It performs best in light shade but can tolerate more sun, in any free draining humus-rich soil that is moisture retentive all year round.
