Description

Geranium malviflorum

Height x Spread: 30cm x 50cm

Intense display of large blue flowers with heart-shaped petals and reddish-purple veining over deeply divided marbled green leaves in spring. After the effort of all that flowering, this Geranium dies right back in the summer recouping its energy before new foliage emerges in autumn.

We find it helpful to treat it like spring bulbs, planting it towards the front of a border, where its place can be taken over by summer perennials such as Coreopsis verticillata 'Zagreb' or Nepeta grandiflora 'Summer Magic'. It thrives in a moist but free-draining soil in a sunny position, but can tolerate partial shade.
