Elegant and statuesque, 'Tawny King's' poker-like flower spikes command attention with their delicious colour combination - creamy yellow flowers opening upwards from deep tawny orange buds to create a striking two-tone ombre effect.
Flowering from late July into October, it is perfect for adding verticality and dramatic injections of colour to a herbaceous border at a time when many earlier flowering perennials are fading. Its evergreen strap-like foliage is also useful as a foil for spring plants whilst providing valuable structure through the winter. Suiting many styles of planting from cottage to coastal and courtyard, we also think it looks really good mixed with taller ornamental grasses such as MOLINIA and CALAMAGROSTIS. It performs best in full sun in a deep moist but free draining soil.
