A giant among 'Red Hot Pokers', 'Nobilis' is well-named for its chunky spikes of fiery orange flowers that open and fade to creamy yellow from their base upwards, producing a striking two-colour display on tall sturdy stems from late summer into early autumn.  Its evergreen foliage is attractive too, grey-green with narrow leaves, so useful for providing winter structure in the garden.

This is a plant with impact, perfect for the back of a 'hot' themed border combined with reds and yellows, but why not showcase it as a vibrant focal point in your garden.  Much beloved by bees for its nectar-rich flowers, it needs full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with some moisture to flourish.
