Viola lutea

Height x Spread:  20cm x 40cm

Said to be the largest of the british native pansies, Viola lutea is much admired for its soft yellow flowers with black veining that appear from June to August over neat mounds of small green heart-shaped leaves.

Low maintenance and easy to grow in any good soil, its ability to cope with either sun or partial shade make it an ideal choice for underplanting shrubs and perennials, its clear pale yellow really catching the eye and highlighting other flowers.  Perfect too for edging a path through a dappled woodland, a quick tidy up of faded flower stems after the initial flowering encourages further blooms.

Available for Mail Order from April - August
