Maianthemum canadense

Height x Spread: 20cm x 40cm

A perennial native of Canada and the North Eastern USA, this plant is best suited to moist but well drained, humus rich soil which is either acidic or neutral. It is a rhizomatous plant that produces ovate leaves on short erect stems from spring and clusters of starry white flowers which are followed by mottled green berries, these mature to red later in the season.

Mature plants can be divided in late autumn and its is hardy to -20 degrees C. No pruning is required.

Ideal for underplanting trees and shrubs or growing in woodland or a shaded border.
