Description

Salvia microphylla 'Cerro Potosí'

Height x Spread:  60cm x 60cm

Ever so dainty, with vibrant magenta pink flowers held over neat scented light green foliage, this shrubby evergreen Salvia flowers its socks off from midsummer into late autumn.

Native to Mexico, it is tough and once established can tolerate periods of little or no watering in a fairly fertile, free draining soil in full sun.  Plant it to draw the eye at the front of a border, perhaps combined with Agastache 'Blue Boa', Nepeta grandiflora 'Dawn to Dusk' and Scabiosa africana 'Jocelyn' for a striking long flowering display.  Perfect too for a container plant on a hot sunny terrace or by the sea as it can cope with salt air.  Being frost hardy, keeping it in a pot makes it easy to bring under cover during hard winters.  Bees and butterflies love it.
