Jester-like flowerheads with shaggy, narrow, purple-pink petals over a ruff of purplish-green bracts, are produced along sturdy, vertical stems with fragrant, spear-shaped leaves.
Ideal for planting in groups or drifts through a border, the rich colour and form of this Bergamot or Bee Balm combines beautifully with lime greens, purples and soft oranges. It is very versatile and looks equally good in an urban or courtyard space or cottage garden. Bees love it. It performs best in full sun or part shade, in a humus-rich soil that is moist, but free draining and does not dry out during the summer.
