Description
Penstemon 'Papal Purple'

'Papal Purple' is a short penstemon, it has purple bell-shaped flowers with white centres and deep purple veins. Blooming starts during early summer and continues into the autumn, the flower stems are clothed in green lance-shaped foliage.
A great perennial for attracting bees into your flower beds and borders, it prefers sunny or partially shady positions with any reasonable soil. 'Papal Purple' needs deadheading during the summer to encourage further flowering. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before the winter, leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. Softwood cuttings can be taken during the summer.
