'Rich Ruby' has fabulous ruby red flowers during the summer with contrasting yellow stamens within the burgundy throat. Fresh glossy green lance-shaped leaves cover the upright stems of this clump-forming perennial. Commonly known as Beardtongue, 'Rich Ruby' will attract bees and other pollinators into your garden.
Keep deadheading this perennial as the flowers fade to encourage more flowers to develop. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before the winter, leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. Softwood cuttings can be taken during the summer. Happy to grow in any fertile, moisture retentive, free-draining soil, in sun or partial shade.
