Description
Penstemon 'Schoenholzeri
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
Penstemon 'Schoenholzeri', otherwise known as Penstemon 'Firebird', is a clump-forming semi-evergreen perennial. Narrow green lance-shaped foliage covers the stems up to the wonderful racemes of crimson-red tubular flowers which appear throughout summer.
Keep deadheading this perennial as the flowers fade to encourage more flowers to develop. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before the winter, leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. Happy to grow in any fertile, moisture retentive, free-draining soil, in sun or partial shade.
