100% Peat Free Pollinator Friendly RHS Award of Garden Merit

A clump-forming perennial bearing spires of pure white flowers from midsummer into autumn, rising from a base of mid-green, oval pointed leaves.

An ideal plant alongside streams, ponds and in boggy situations, it thrives in moisture-retentive soils in full sun or partial shade. Invaluable for late-season interest, its white spires light up damp borders long after many perennials have faded. Cut the stems back once flowering has finished.

  • Care Guide:

Plant in moist, fertile soil enriched with organic matter, in full sun or partial shade. Tolerates heavier soils well and is reliably hardy. Mulching annually will help maintain soil fertility and moisture retention. Once established, spreads steadily to form effective weed-suppressing ground cover. Cut back after flowering or in late winter or spring before new growth begins. Divide clumps in autumn or spring to control spread and keep plants vigorous or to propagate.

  • Good to Know

Wildlife-friendly — the nectar-rich flower spikes are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

Adaptable and easy to grow, even in heavier soils.
