Clusters of gorgeous purple orchid-like flowers with a white inner appear during late summer on stout, erect stems. Green,strap-shaped leaves have a prominent venation.
Roscoea prefers humus-rich soil that is fairly free draining and slightly acid, in a shady or partially shady location. This stunning plant would look fantastic in a woodland situation or on shady banks and slopes, as well as in your borders and beds. Roscoea emerges in very late spring, be careful not to dig this plant up by accident.
