Commonly known as 'Silver Sage', it forms large rosettes of soft, furry, silver foliage above which, appear tall stems bearing white hooded flowers with pink tinged lower lips. Its flowers are pretty but less dramatic.

More widely grown for its striking, tactile foliage than its flowers, it is a superb candidate for a gravel garden or Mediterranean style planting scheme. Silver Sage is a biennial therefore leave the flowerheads to turn to seed before sowing and storing in a cold frame the following spring. It thrives in light, fairly fertile, free draining soil with some moisture, in full sun.
