Tall spikes of deep indigo purple flowers are held on branching purple-green stems above bushy mid green foliage. This later flowering Salvia is a great performer, producing blooms during late summer.
It makes a wonderful container plant combined with tawny orange or white Dahlias. Alternatively plant it with Verbena bonariensis and vivid red Dahlia in a border, but remember it emerges later than other plants from the ground, so mark where its planted and do not crowd it out. Do not cut down until the frosts have finished in late spring. It prefers to be planted in full sun, in a light soil with some richness and good drainage.
