Description

Salvia nemorosa 'Ostfriesland'

Height x Spread: 50cm x 45cm

'Ostfriesland' bears dense spikes of vivid, violet purple flowers with pink bracts, on upright, bushy stems with rough, aromatic mid-green sage-like foliage. Widely valued for its intense colour which really sings out against pinks and crimsons, picking up on the colour of its bracts.

It looks wonderful planted in drifts with grasses, but equally makes a great specimen plant for a Mediterranean or gravel garden. Bees will flock to its flowers all summer long. To get the best results grow in full sun, in a reasonably fertile, light well-drained but moisture retentive soil.
