This is compact, clump-forming, evergreen grass with bright narrow green foliage. Spikes of purple tinted white flowers appear a little above the foliage in early summer which will mature to seed heads as the season progresses.
Happy on any free-draining soil in sun or light shade, it can be used as a specimen or planted in numbers as ground cover. Ideal for lower prairie style designs and can also be featured for winter structure and interest. Sesleria 'Greenlee' can also be used to line flower border or path edges and has been found to be tolerant of salt air, so use in coastal gardens is recommended. Its diminutive stature means that it can be interplanted with spring bulbs to good effect.
A cut back in spring will keep the mound tidy and bright. It will become drought resistant when it matures. Hardy to -20C if not allowed to become water-logged.
