Description

Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks'

Height x Spread: 100cm x 75cm

A more polite and refined form of 'goldenrod' which will not run riot through your garden, 'Fireworks' lives up to its name, putting on a long-lasting display of gently arching stems choc-full of small yellow flowers from late summer into autumn.

Beloved by bees and other pollinators, its naturalistic good looks would be very at home in any wildlife meadow or prairie planting scheme, perhaps mixed with Helenium, Achillea and dark brown ornamental grasses such as Molinia or red-stemmed Miscanthus.  But it also cuts well for vases, so make room for it in your cutting or informal cottage garden too.  Unfussy and easy to grow, it thrives in full sun but can cope with light shade too in any poor to fairly fertile, free draining soil.
