Height x Spread: 60cm x 45cm
Masses of small, pale lilac-pink flowers with rich yellow centres, are held in open sprays on robust stems with narrow, dark green foliage.A favourite of florists for flower arranging, this Michaelmas Daisy delivers an amazingly prolific and long-lasting display for weeks on end in autumn. Much beloved by bees and butterflies.
Ideal for planting in drifts towards the front of a cottage garden border, it also combines well with ornamental grasses, especially those that have rich orange or purple autumnal colour. Despite its delicate looks, it is tough enough to tolerate airborne salt and dryer soil than other Symphyotrichum, so would suit a coastal garden as well. Low maintenance, it grows well in any free draining soil that is fairly nutritious in full sun.
