100% Peat Free RHS Award of Garden Merit

Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Fellowship’ bears clusters of large, double, soft pink flowers with saffron-yellow centres on upright stems with glossy, pointed oval leaves. As the flowers mature, the petals twist gently, making them appear even fuller — an unusual and attractive quality that adds to the display as it develops from late summer into autumn.

It is an excellent cut flower, and combines beautifully with ornamental grasses in naturalistic planting schemes or in a mixed herbaceous border. It thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun.

Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour — any time after flowering but spring is preferred. Cut back stems after flowering in autumn. Taller selections may require staking. Symphyotrichum novi-belgii cultivars benefit from good air circulation to help prevent mildew.

  • Good to Know

Pollinator-friendly — the flowers attract bees and other pollinators; the central disc turns from yellow to brown once pollinated.

Vigorous and long-lived; clumps bulk up well over time.
