Patrinia triloba

This lovely Japanese woodland perennial is ideally suited to shade or semi shade in any fertile, moisture retentive soil. Producing a carpet of elegant, mid green, maple like leaves, it is an excellent filler for North or East facing gardens and will provide a profusion of small, scented yellow flowers on short stems in Summer.

Hardy in the U.K. it is relatively pest and disease free which makes it ideal for under planting roses, trees and shrubs. It will also fit happily into a cottage or informal scheme or as ground cover in a shady spot. 

Cut back spent stems after flowering and enjoy the yellow tones of the foliage in autumn. 

A highly underrated plant that should be seen more often.
